Health Navigation through Femade
What is health navigator
Health navigation is a form of mentorship between peers, often led by the person who has lived experience. It is not a form of counselling and is not registered by a mental health regulation. Instead, it is casual engagement between two people of similar experience, to overcome challenges and gain some clarity.
About Anusha
Anusha is a chronic illness spoonie who pivoted her career to open Femade. Her goal is to provide access to care for as many Canadians as she can, one conversation at a time. She created Femade so that others suffering from gynecological issues and invisible illness have a safe space. Anusha spends her energy speaking to others about Endometriosis, pelvic pain, chronic illness, digestive concerns, and emotional stagnation from health and life transitions.
Why health navigation?
Because sometimes you don’t need formal therapy. Sometimes you don’t want to talk to your friends. Sometimes you harbor the answers to what you need, you just need to get there. Health navigation is a great hybrid to allow you to have candid conversations in a truly safe space with someone who has been there, and felt it.
Some topics explored through health navigation
In these 1:1 sessions Anusha has first-hand experience on a number of issues that are near and dear to her. Again, while she is not a registered therapist Anusha can share her experiences, listen, guide, and participate in your journey.

More about Anusha
Anusha holds a Masters of Neuroscience degree from Carleton University and jumped into a career of biotech sales within the fields of genetics and microbiome. Through these exciting years she became sicker and sicker through the delay of diagnosis with endometriosis, and later, with ulcerative colitis. Making a critical decision in her career, she pivoted in 2022 to launch Femade.
Since then her mission has been access to care for all. In 2023 Femade launched its Fem-Aid Financial Assistance Program to help those who could not normally afford care. In this same year she was also awarded Ottawa’s Bootstraps Founder of the Year, an incredible feat amoungst companies who have been around for years.
Anusha sits on the Advisory Board for the Ontario Health Technologies Advisory Councel, and the Lived Experience Advisory Group through OHRI. She has also recently been appointed the Women’s Health Coalition Patient Advisory Director for the National group and the Ontario Chapter. Anusha holds a certificate in health navigation through York University.
